Behind the runway, in studio, and on location around the world, Kristen Arnett translates her keen eye for beauty and fashion into captivating makeup. Arnett’s work draws the praise of photographers, editors, stylists, models, musicians, and ordinary women – all impressed by her professionalism, generous spirit and commitment to superb results.

Arnett’s editorial work appears in international magazines such as Vogue Accessori, GQ Italy and Wallpaper. Her makeup has graced the runways of Fendi, Giorgio Armani Couture, Pucci, Cavalli, D&G and Prada to name a few. She has assisted some of the most creative and respected makeup artists in the world, including Pat McGrath, Ashley Ward, Charlotte Tilbury, Sharon Dowsett and Peter Philips. Her advertising clients have included Xerox, Intel and Nike, and she has worked with bands such as The Gossip, Tegan & Sara, and Cobra Starship.

On set, Arnett is a detail-oriented collaborator with a sparkling presence. She often plays several roles, including coaching models and holding reflectors. Her enthusiasm stems from knowing at 13 exactly what she wanted to do when she grew up. “I began my foray into the makeup world like most teenagers,” she says, “with a few drug store cosmetics, a Teen magazine and some ‘educational’ moments spent in front of the mirror.” But she focused on the craft with unusual intensity.

On her way to becoming a freelance makeup artist, Arnett earned a BS in Business Marketing from the University of Southern California, worked in cosmetics product development, and took photography classes to better understand image creation.

When not practicing her craft, Arnett writes articles, appears on TV as a beauty expert, acts as an educator for cosmetics brands, and teaches workshops for makeup artists. She also gives private lessons to show women how to care for their skin and bring their unique beauty forward with makeup. Arnett believes that beauty is a feeling, and makeup can help transform perspective.

At the heart of Arnett’s career is her desire to give back to her community. She has done so as a mentor for BecomeX.org, and she donates 10 percent of her workshop proceeds to Angelfacesretreat.org.
